ONE SCREEN. EVERYONE TAKES A TURN.
How to Play NOT IT!
NOT IT! is a collection of chance-based games designed for people playing together in the same room.
You don't need accounts. You don't need to enter everyone’s names. You don't need to choose player numbers.
Just open a game and pass the device around.
Each person takes one turn.
Most turns are safe.
Eventually, someone triggers the result.
That person is it.
The basic rules
Choose a game
Pick one of the four games from the Home page.
Each game has different visuals and interactions, but they all follow the same basic idea.
Decide the turn order
Stand around one screen or pass a phone/tablet between players.
Choose who goes first however you like.
Clockwise works.
So does arguing about it.
Take one action
Each player performs one action during their turn.
Depending on the game, that might mean:
- pressing one control
- cutting one string
- breaking one piece of ice
- opening one crate
Then pass the turn to the next person.
Keep going
Safe actions stay resolved while the game continues.
That means the tension increases as fewer choices remain.
Eventually, one player triggers the hidden outcome.
That player gets picked
The game reveals the result and the round ends.
You can then play again with a newly randomized round.
How each game works
DON'T LAUNCH IT!
Players take turns pressing one control on the rocket console.
Most controls are harmless.
One control launches the rocket.
If you press it:
YOU LAUNCHED IT!
You’re the one.
FREE THE ALIEN
Players take turns cutting one string.
Most strings release ordinary alien-shaped balloons.
One releases the real alien.
If your cut reveals it:
ABDUCTED!
You’re the one.
WHAT'S UNDER THE ICE?
Players take turns breaking one section of Antarctic ice.
Most openings reveal a penguin.
One reveals something much less friendly.
If the predator appears on your turn:
NOT A PENGUIN!
You’re the one.
DON'T OPEN THAT!
Players take turns opening one wooden crate.
Most crates contain old circus props.
One contains the clown.
If you open that crate:
GOTCHA!
You’re the one.
What can you use NOT IT! for?
NOT IT! works whenever a group needs to pick one person without making the selection itself boring.
For example:
Who goes first?
Who chooses the next activity?
Who gets the next turn?
Who has to do a harmless challenge?
Who picks the movie?
Who orders first?
Who starts the game?
Or simply:
Who gets picked?
The outcome is only part of the fun.
The real point is watching everyone become increasingly nervous about taking the next turn.
A few simple rules
Keep it fun.
NOT IT! is made for entertainment and casual group decisions.
Don't use it to make important decisions involving:
- health
- safety
- money
- legal matters
- emergencies
- anything where a random outcome could seriously affect someone
For those decisions, use judgment — not a clown in a box.
